A New Free Medical Clinic Opens In Orlando Area

Seminole County has a handful of clinics that offer medical care for free, or on a sliding scale and Harvest Time International plans to open a new free clinic next month at its headquarters off State Road 46.The new Medical Care Center, free medical_clinic orlandowhich Smolinsky hoped to open earlier this year, will have five examination rooms. It also plans to offer eye exams and low-cost prescriptions. The clinic will serve families from all over the region that are uninsured and live at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty limit: about $44,000 a year for a family of four.

The nonprofit already offers low-cost food to 500 families in the region every day and any of those clients requested medical care, communications director Lena Smolinsky said. A total of five doctors and nurse practitioners have signed up to volunteer to see patients, said Andre Smolinsky, the nonprofit’s chief operating officer. But more volunteers are needed.
